About Evan

Good stories start with listening.

I’m Evan Dammarell, a writer, editor and content strategist based in Northeast Ohio. I bring curiosity, editorial judgment and practical digital experience to helping people and organizations communicate clearly and connect with their audiences.

My background

Sports journalism has shaped how I work through asking thoughtful questions, understand the details and find the human story behind the headline. Years covering the Cleveland Cavaliers and the NBA gave me experience building relationships, explaining complex subjects and delivering accurate, engaging work under deadline.

As the founder and editor in chief of Right Down Euclid, I’ve taken on the work of building and running an independent publication. My responsibilities have included reporting, editing, guiding contributors, managing website content, producing newsletters and developing social campaigns. That experience has taught me to think about both the quality of a story and how it reaches its audience.

My work has appeared in Forbes, Sports Illustrated and Newsweek, and earned first place in the 2023 All-Ohio Excellence in Journalism Awards. I’ve also hosted and produced Locked On Cavs, developing my interviewing, audio production and conversational storytelling skills.

How I work

I start by understanding the audience and the purpose of the project. From there, I shape the message, choose the right format and pay attention to the details that make content useful and credible.

Whether I’m editing an article, planning a newsletter, updating a website or developing social content, I bring the same priorities: clear communication, thoughtful execution and reliable follow-through. I value collaboration and use audience feedback and performance data to improve the work.

Rooted in community

My connection to Northeast Ohio extends beyond my professional work. I’ve spent six seasons coaching Wadsworth Youth Basketball, working with players in grades three through eight, and supported athletics game-day operations at the University of Akron.

Those experiences strengthened my commitment to mentorship, teamwork and creating environments where people feel supported. They also reinforced something I carry into every project: understanding people makes me a better communicator.
